How TradeVision works

TradeVision is a Windows application that trades your own MetaTrader 5 account by clear, rule-based strategies. This guide explains what it does, how it decides, how it protects your capital, and how to use every part of the app.

The engine, in four stages

TradeVision runs on your PC next to MetaTrader 5 (MT5). It never holds your money and never needs your broker password: it connects to the MT5 terminal you are already logged into and places orders on that account — exactly like MT5's own robots.

1 · WatchReads candles and live prices for every instrument you enable, from your own MT5.
2 · DecideWhen a candle closes, the instrument's strategy checks its conditions and your filters.
3 · ExecutePlaces the order with a stop loss attached — a pending order at a level, or at market.
4 · ProtectManages the open trade every few seconds: trailing, breakeven, daily limits.

Decisions are made on closed candles

A strategy only looks at candles that have finished (1-minute, 5-minute or 15-minute, depending on the strategy). The candle that is still forming is never used for a decision, so a signal can't appear and disappear within the same minute.

Every instrument has its own strategy

You can run a trend strategy on gold, a scalper on bitcoin and a breakout strategy on EUR/USD at the same time. Each instrument also has its own size, stop loss, target, trailing method and trading hours.

Every order carries a stop loss

The stop loss is stored at your broker, together with the order. If your PC or internet goes down, your broker still closes the trade at the stop. TradeVision simply stops trailing until it is back.

Trades are tagged

Every TradeVision order carries its own identifier, so the app only manages its own trades. Positions you open by hand are left alone. After a restart, each open trade is picked up again by the strategy that opened it.

The strategies

TradeVision ships with 17 strategies in six families. Below is what each one looks for. The exact rules, filters and parameters are our own work and are not published — but nothing is a black box in the app: every decision, level and order appears in the Activity log as it happens.

FamilyStrategyWhat it looks forCandles
TrendSuper EMATrades only in the direction of the long-term moving-average trend, entering when price breaks out of the last candle's range.15m
VWAP CrossA decisive close through the session's volume-weighted average price, confirmed by the candle before it.15m
EMA Trend PullbackA strong, aligned moving-average trend, a pull-back towards the fast average, then a candle showing the trend resuming.15m
BreakoutDonchian BreakoutPrice escaping the highest high or lowest low of a recent period.15m
5 / 15 Minutes CrossoverPrice crossing the high or low of the candle that just closed — whichever side breaks first.5m / 15m
Opening Range BreakoutThe break of the range built in the first part of a trading session.15m
Historical PivotDecisive crosses of pivot levels calculated from previous sessions.15m
VolatilityBollinger SqueezeA period of unusually narrow volatility, followed by an expansion out of the bands.15m
Squeeze BreakoutCompression measured over many candles, then a strong candle closing beyond both the range and the band, with a trend filter.15m
MomentumRSI PullbackA temporary dip in momentum inside an established trend, entered as momentum turns back.15m
Price action / liquidityLiquidity Sweep ReversalPrice running beyond an obvious swing high or low (where other traders' stops sit) and closing back inside with a strong rejection.15m
ICT Sweep + FVGA liquidity sweep, a shift in market structure, then a limit entry inside the fair-value gap the move left behind.5m
ICT Order Block + FVGA displacement that breaks structure, with the last opposite candle (order block) and a fair-value gap stacked together; limit entry on the retrace.5m
Asian Range SweepThe quiet Asian-session range, then a false break of it around the London open that closes back inside. One trade per day.5m
ScalpingSuper ScalperShort sequences of candle bodies stepping consistently in one direction; fixed money stop and target.1m
Atomic ScalperA strong one-minute momentum close, then adds to the winning side as it moves, moving earlier entries to breakeven. Requires a hedging account.1m
No strategy wins every trade, and none works in every market. Trend strategies struggle in sideways markets; reversal strategies struggle in strong trends. Test each strategy on a demo account with the instruments and hours you plan to trade before using real money.

Risk controls

Every control below is set per instrument (Instruments → ⚙), except daily limits, which apply to the whole account.

Position size — choose one

  • Risk % — the lot size is calculated so that hitting the stop loss costs this percentage of your balance.
  • Fixed lots — the same size on every trade.
  • Capital per trade — lots are sized from the margin you want to use.
  • A maximum lot size caps every trade, whatever the method.

Initial stop loss

Each strategy has its own natural stop (for example the other end of the signal candle or beyond a swept level). You can replace it with a fixed distance in points, a percentage of price, or a multiple of ATR (the instrument's average range).

Target

No target (let the trailing stop decide), a multiple of the risk (R, e.g. 2R), points, a percentage, or a fixed amount of money.

Filters before every entry

  • Trading hours — only trade the sessions you choose (e.g. London and New York).
  • Maximum spread — skip entries while the broker's spread is wider than your limit.
  • Maximum positions per instrument.
  • Daily limits for the whole account — maximum trades per day, maximum loss per day, and a profit target for the day. When a limit is hit, new entries stop until the next broker day; open trades keep their protection.
  • Broker checks — no orders when the broker has the symbol closed, or when MT5's Algo Trading button is off.
Start small. A practical starting point is 0.5–1% risk per trade on a demo account. A single trade risking several percent of your balance can undo many good days.

Exits & trailing stops

Once a trade is open, its stop loss is reviewed every few seconds and only ever moves in your favour — never back.

MethodHow the stop follows the trade
Moving average (fast or slow)Follows a trend line calculated live; the slow line gives trades more room, the fast one locks profit sooner.
VWAPFollows the session's volume-weighted average price.
Previous candle (1m / 5m / 15m)Steps to the low (buys) or high (sells) of the last finished candle.
Risk gapKeeps the same distance as the trade's original risk behind the price.
Percentage / points / ATRKeeps a fixed percentage, distance or volatility multiple behind the price.
NoneFixed stop and target only.

Also available

  • Breakeven — once the trade is a chosen multiple of its risk in profit, the stop moves to the entry price.
  • Idle step — if the stop hasn't moved for a while, it steps a little closer to price.
  • Close All — one button pauses trading, cancels waiting orders and closes every TradeVision trade at market.

Using the app

Top bar

Shows your MT5 account, whether it is DEMO or REAL, HEDGING or NETTING, and whether MT5's ALGO trading is on (it must be green). Below it: ▶ Start Auto Trading allows new trades, ⏸ Pause stops new trades (open trades stay protected), ⟳ Check now re-checks every instrument immediately, and ⛔ Close All closes everything. TradeVision always starts paused.

Dashboard

Today's profit and loss, open trades, an equity curve, monthly results and a live tile for each enabled instrument with its status in plain words (for example "Waiting: BUY if price goes above 2,345.10") and a countdown to the next check.

Instruments

Every symbol your broker offers. Switch an instrument on or off with one click and open ⚙ to choose its strategy, size, stop, target, trailing, breakeven, trading hours and spread limit. Ready-made presets give sensible starting values.

History

Every closed trade with its result in money and in R, how it closed, filters by date and instrument, and CSV export.

Activity

A line-by-line log of every check, signal, skipped trade (with the reason), order, stop movement and error. When something doesn't happen, the reason is here.

Settings

Daily limits, default risk, the MT5 terminal location (only needed if you have more than one MT5 installed) and history reset.

Licence & accounts

  • One computer per licence, with one real MT5 account and up to ten demo accounts. Switching between them is automatic.
  • Moving to a new PC or changing your real account: use Move to a new PC in your account dashboard (two transfers a year included).
  • Works offline for a while. The app renews its licence automatically every hour or so. If your internet drops, it keeps trading for at least a day, plus a grace period, before pausing new trades.
  • Automatic updates. New strategies and improvements arrive through verified, signed updates.
  • Price lock. Renew before your licence ends and you keep the price you paid, even if our prices rise.
  • Your licence key is personal. Sharing it can lead to suspension.

What TradeVision doesn't do

  • It doesn't hold, receive or move your money. Deposits and withdrawals are between you and your broker.
  • It doesn't guarantee profit. It follows rules; markets decide the outcome.
  • It isn't financial advice, and it isn't a broker.
  • It doesn't run when your PC is off. For trading around the clock, use an always-on PC or a Windows VPS.
  • It doesn't trade instruments your broker has closed or restricted.

Frequently asked questions

Which brokers work with TradeVision?

Any broker that offers MetaTrader 5 on Windows and allows automated (algorithmic) trading. Most do. Use your broker's own MT5 installer.

Do I need to give you my broker login or password?

No. TradeVision connects to the MT5 that is already open and logged in on your PC. We never see your broker credentials or your funds.

Does it work on Mac or on my phone?

TradeVision is a Windows application (Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit). Mac users can run it on a Windows VPS. You can watch your trades on the MT5 mobile app as usual.

Does my PC need to stay on?

Yes, while you want it to trade. Stop losses stay at your broker if the PC goes off, but no new trades open and stops don't trail. Many users run it on a Windows VPS.

Can I use a demo account?

Yes — and we recommend it. Your licence covers one real account plus up to ten demo accounts on the same PC.

How do I move from demo to my real account?

Log MT5 in to your real account. TradeVision links it automatically the first time (your one real account). To swap to a different real account later, use "Move to a new PC" in your dashboard.

Will it close my manual trades?

No. TradeVision only manages trades it opened itself. "Close All" closes only TradeVision trades.

Which strategy should I use?

It depends on the instrument and the hours you trade. Start with one or two strategies on two or three instruments on demo, watch the Activity log for a week, then expand.

Why are no trades happening?

Usually one of: auto trading is paused, MT5's Algo Trading button is off, the market is closed, you are outside your trading hours, the spread is above your limit, a daily limit was reached, or the strategy simply hasn't seen its setup. Each instrument tile and the Activity log say which.

Can I run several strategies at once?

Yes — one strategy per instrument, as many instruments as you like.

What is a hedging account?

An MT5 account type that can hold a buy and a sell on the same instrument at the same time. Atomic Scalper needs one; the other strategies work on both hedging and netting accounts. Your broker decides the type when you open the account.

What happens if my internet disconnects?

Stops stay at your broker. TradeVision reconnects to MT5 automatically, and its licence keeps working offline for at least a day.

Can I change the strategy settings?

Yes — size, stop, target, trailing, breakeven, hours and spread per instrument. The internal signal rules of each strategy are fixed so they behave exactly as tested.

Are past results a promise of future results?

No. Any results you see — ours or anyone else's — are not a guarantee. Trading carries a real risk of loss.

How do updates work?

The app checks for updates when it starts. Updates are signed and verified before installing. Your settings are kept.

Can I get a refund?

Every account starts with a free 7-day trial so you can test everything first. Licences are not refundable once purchased. See the refund policy.

Is TradeVision available in my country?

It is not offered to residents of the United States. You are responsible for making sure automated trading with your broker is allowed where you live.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC". Is it safe?

That message appears for newer software that Windows hasn't seen often. If you downloaded the installer from your TradeVision dashboard, click More info → Run anyway.

How do I contact support?

WhatsApp +91 7909 140 135 or email [email protected] (7am–7pm IST). We never message you first, and we never ask for passwords, OTPs or screen-sharing.
